Director's commentary

Image
Here is evidence of my directors commentary I created, showing my reasoning behind filming scenes a certain/specific and to highlight how I wanted an audience to view my film. Here is a sample of a few clips I analysed. 0.50-3.04- In this scene I  have used a static establishing shot to capture where my character is walking into.By leaving the shot static as the girl is walking away it gives the audience time to register the setting as that is the main focus at this point. And by by the camera staying still but her walking away it creates a feel that she is moving away from reality. ( Establishing shot) 1.33-3.04-  In this scene the camera pans upwards, showing the tall trees and surroundings of the girl, I wanted to capture the contrast between the small girl and the large trees looming over her giving an eery feel and highlighting the stark contrast between her and the large forest. (Pan upwards) 1.55-3.04- After the girl as her future self was just revealed in the prev...

Analysis essay

Here is evidence of my analysis essay, which I made in order to understand film conventions and their role in genre to a deeper level. To do so I had to pick four films I was able to compare and contrast from two different genres.I ended up picking romance and horror then one big budget film and a smaller or independent film.Hopefully this will have a large impact on my film production as it will allow me to have a deeper understanding of genre conventions and how they can be subverted or conformed to when creating my own production film.   Fictional films, or often known as narrative films are productions created through the use of imagination. Generally, not based on real events however often portraying a sense of reality. There are many different formats of fictional films, format meaning the size and how a film was produced. For example, ranging from a Hollywood film, which usually has a large-scale budget to an amateur film which is typically on a smaller scale and usually made...

Evidence of using lighting technique

Image
Although the majority of my film was shot using natural outside lighting, when it came to filming some of the inside scenes i required some brightness,I attached a small light to the camera in order to achieve my desired look.I felt it was important to get the level of brightness just right as I didn't want to come across to harsh.

Evidence of using clapper board

Image
Here is a photo of the clapper board I used in production, clapper boards are used to mark what shot you are shooting and what particular take which keeps things organised and makes the editing process later smoother as you can work out what shoot you are watching.

Evidence of recording sound

Image
This picture shows evidence of me recording sound for my voiceover in my film.By attaching a mic to the camera i was able to get a clear audio. However I also tried to record on my phone to see which would sound better but i found it was clearer using the cameras mic pictured here.

Raw footage log sheet

Image
This post is evidence of a video log i created, below you will find a sample cut.Log sheets are useful as they note down the footage all together in one document, so even if you don't use a shot you know you still have it incase of an emergency or needing backup footage.
